‘ROMANCE IS LIKE FAST FOOD!’ – Preity Zinta (BT,Mum,13Nov08,P1)
Preity Zinta looked pensive. She was discussing the next role she wants to play. “I’ve been so sad in my last couple of films,” she sighed, “maybe I ought to do a romance, because in those roles I look better and feel — ah, so happy! I could even do an action film, because that’s the only bracket left I’ve not ventured into.”
We were talking in her car over dahi batata puri at Bandra’s famous Elco Arcade chaat wallah. Me, marvelling at the astonishing amount of junk food the pretty actress was putting away without a thought about the calories, her waist and what the consequences of this binge would be. “I’m leaving for Dubai, I’m going to be away for a while shooting for Main Aur Mrs Khanna, so I feel like splurging,” she pouted, dismissing my concerns about her food and figure.

Akshay set to do duet with Naomi (BT,Mum,13Nov08,P1)
Akshay Kumar, who’s acted with Hollywood’s Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards and done the bhangra with international rapper Snoop Dogg, is now readying to do a jig with the sexy supermodel Naomi Campbell.
The earlier two feats were pulled by Sajid Nadiadwala for Kambakkht Ishq and Vipul Shah for Singh in Kingg respectively, by Akshay’s latest coup is the work of Shailendra Singh for the animation film Jumbo. “We are trying to match the dates of these two stars,” Shailendra said, because Akshay is in Cape Town shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor’s 8x10.
BT learned that joining Akshay and Naomi in the promotional video will be Bollywood stars like Lara Dutta and the action star’s wife and mother-in-law, Twinkle and Dimple Kapadia respectively. The two have lent their voices to a cute Hindi song which has a few English words, a source said.

Hema wants to learn Rabindra Sangeet (BT,Mum,13Nov08,P40)
Hema Malini isn’t tired of exploring new avenues. And the latest venture she has on her mind, in her own words is to master Sanskrit language. “I want to record a CD of shlokas as much as I wish to learn Rabindra sangeet and sing at least one song.” Hema has done Tagore’s Bhanusingher Padabali, Rabi O Radha, and recently she went to a Rabindra Sangeet sandhya.
Hema sang her first Bengali song with Kishore Kumar in 1975 during Durga Puja. Later she sang in her films like Haath Ki Safai, Dream Girl and Indira. Hema’s mother wanted her to learn vocals also but due to her dance she couldn’t pursue her vocal training. Well, keeping in mind her tireless work and dynamism, the day is not too far when we will hear her singing Rabindra sangeet and reciting Sanskrit shlokas too!

Tanvi Vyas - Earthy beauty (BT,Mum,13Nov08,P1)
Pantaloons Femina Miss India-Earth 2008 Tanvi Vyas is living it up in Manila, Phillipines these days. She’s there for the Miss Earth 2008 beauty pageant, the only contest that helps heavenly beauties get together for an earthy cause – its agenda is to save Mother Earth from exploitation.
Tanvi’s competing for the crown with 84 other contestants from the world over. But there’s not a nervous bone in Tanvi, as she told us just before leaving India for Manila. “I am very excited, and happy to be the chosen one to represent India. I shall do my best,” she said.

Is Lara Dutta indebted to Kelly Dorji? (BT,Mum,13Nov08,P40)
Lara Dutta is looking stunning these days. Get into conversation with her and she gracefully unveils her very beautiful mind, too. All spiritual, and completely into yoga and meditation, it’s ironic that she was embracing these sciences that taught you to love more when she was falling out of love!
“You don’t fall out of love,” she explains, “You’re given certain relationships in your life, and an immense amount of spiritual growth happens through them. I’ll always be indebted to the relationship that I was in, and to the person who was in the relationship with me, because both of us learnt life’s most valuable lessons in the period of time that we were together.”
So though Dutta hasn’t fallen out of love, she has fallen in love all over again! And no, we aren’t going to ask for any more philo-lessons on pyar-vyar…
